The basemap provides pre-rendered symbology that incorporates basic map features to provide a background on which other data layers can be overlain. Vivid color symbology is used to readily distinguish basemap features. The basemap features render in greater detail at larger scales. The service is published in NJ State Plane coordinates, NAD83, US Survey feet. Note to service users who incorporate service layer(s) into an application or published live map: The NJ Office of GIS, as basemap publisher and steward, provides early notification of changes that may affect use of the cached basemap service. To do this, we need contact name and email address for the service user, and name of the application or published live map consuming the service.
